Iglesia de Santiago
Descripción
La amistad de los Azagra con la orden militar de Santiago influyó en la advocación del templo, construido en su forma actual por Alonso de Barrio Dajo sobre el año 1600. Se concluyó en 1726 al rematarse la torre. Tiene una estructura de una sola nave con cubierta de crucería estrellada. Entre sus retablos, destaca el de la Epístola, del maestro Jerónimo Martínez en 1524, renacentista, dedicado a San Sebastián, rematado por una Santísima Trinidad. El retablo mayor está dedicado al Apóstol, con una talla del siglo XVIII.

Description
In the vicinity of the Plaza Mayor square and next to Calle Portal de Molina, there are some steps leading to a small square where the Church of Santiago emerges with the old Santiago parish house adjoining it – today converted into a hotel. We don’t know its origin, but there is evidence that suggests that this church was built on the site of an old neighbourhood mosque (oratory or masyid) and was linked to the religious and military order of Santiago, which was highly important in medieval Albarracín.
